Start Small

The idea of simplifying sounded a bit overwhelming at first but I knew if I took it one step at a time I would begin to see the benefits. I started with my spice cabinet. Since getting married I have found I spend a lot more time in the kitchen – preparing dinner, packing lunches, unpacking groceries and meal planning. It seemed to make sense to start organizing there.

Below is where I started. How I ever found the spices I need without taking everything out I am not sure.

Whenever I start organizing I always find it helpful to take everything out so I can see everything, get rid of unnecessary items, and start grouping similar items. This also gave me a chance to check expiration dates and get rid of a few old spices I still had.

Once I had everything out I measured my cabinet then ran to Bed Bath & Beyond to get a few cabinet organizers.

I found these small organizers that fit perfectly in my small cabinet. They were only $5.99 each plus I had two 20% off coupons!  Here they are in my cabinet.

Once I had the cabinet organizers in I placed my spices in an order of how often I tend to use them and what made sense to me.

Much better! Now I can easily access all my spices!
