When we first laid eyes on our house the curb appeal was less than
desirable to say the least. Below is
a picture from when we purchased the home and since it was February in Ohio
it had snowed.
You can’t tell by the picture but the yard was very patchy, the candy
cane striped awning was filthy, the wooden storm door didn't fit the door frame,
and the roof shingles were indeed green.
Here is a picture in early spring of the house before we got our hands
dirty. Our first goal was to clear out all the excess dirt and remove the deteriorating
paver wall.
It took us all weekend to transplant the few plants we wanted to keep,
remove the dead bushes, tear down four layers of pavers, move all the dirt, and
dig out the surprise tree stump we found.
I can’t even begin to recall the number of trips we took with the wheel
barrows (yes we ended up getting two) to move all the dirt and seven layers of
pavers (one layer was hidden below the ground). Once we cleared everything we
took down the dated awning.
Unfortunately this is only a portion of the pavers we moved.
Removing the awning and the pavers really updated the house and opened up the view of the porch.
